Study Questions

1. Read Proverbs 31:10-31. Describe this wife and mother. What does she do that makes her so admirable/noble? What is the reaction of her children toward her? Describe what that look like practically? How do you bless your mom (whether she is living or has passed)?

2. Read Exodus 20:12. What is the promise that accompanies this commandment from God? How have you seen this promised lived out in your life or someone else’s life?

3. Discuss the following verses that describe ways to honor your mother (and father): Proverbs 15:20-21; Proverbs 23:15-18; Proverbs 1:8-10. What do these verses mean to you?

4. How can you honor your mother (and father) even when they may not deserve that honor? Is there a difference between honoring your father and mother and determining healthy boundaries if needed? Why/why not?

5. Read Exodus 1:22-2:10. Take a moment and try to imagine how hard it must have been for Jachebed to give Moses up. Describe what that must have felt like? If you are a mother, what lessons can you learn from Jochebed? How is God speaking to you through her story?

6. Think about how difficult it must have been for Mary to trust in God’s plan as Jesus went to the cross. What can we learn from Mary’s trust in God’s sovereign plan and purpose for her child?
