1. Why do you think the topic of giving is a difficult one to address for many people?
2. Read Philippians 4:10-13. In what context did the Apostle Paul mean ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’? How do many Christians misapply this passage?
3. According to Philippians 4:14-16, why was the church in Philippi so special to Paul?
4. Read Philippians 4:17-20. Why does Paul call their gift a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, and pleasing to God? Was it a gift to Paul or to God? Who truly was the recipient of the blessing (v.17)? How might these different perspectives affect your motives in giving?
5. Identify the following reasons behind why believers in Philippi gave of their resources to Paul and to his work for the gospel: what was…

6. In 1 Peter 1:8 Peter speaks of an inexpressible joy that we have as followers of Jesus. Describe this ‘inexpressible joy’ in your own words. How has this joy affected recent decisions you’ve made for your life?
7. For personal reflection: turning back around to the first question, is giving a difficult topic for you? Why or why not? Has it always been? Write a very honest note to the Lord about this. Thank Him for His generosity in your life and ask Him to show you His heart. Where is the Lord asking you to be generous this week?
