1. Read 1 John 2:1-2. Relate theses verses back to the end of chapter 1. What significance does this have in light of the reality of sin in our lives?

2. Read verses 3-6, What is John telling us about what it means to be a follower of Christ? See James 2:14-26

3. Read verses7-11, What is the old commandment? See 1 John 3:11, Matthew 22:37-19, Leviticus 19:17-19a What is the new commandment? See John 13:34 How are they the same and how are they different?

4. Read verses 12-14, discuss the different groups John is addressing and why. What does this tell us about his audience and what we should be striving for?

5. Verse 6 ends with stating that to abide in Him we ought to "Walk as He walked". What does that look like? What do we have to know before we can walk as he walked? See John 1:14 John 8:12

6 If we really want to follow Christ, we have to know who He is, what He's done, and why he did it?. How can you deepen your understanding of who Christ is and what He's done this week?
