Study Questions


1. Read Matthew 2:1-12. What external and internal factors prompted the Magi to search for Jesus?


2. What did the Magi acknowledge about Jesus? What titles did they give him?


3. How did King Herod react to the visit of the Magi? Why did he react that way?


4. How were the Magi led to Christ? What reaction did they have when they found the Christ Child? What did worshiping Jesus involve for the Magi? What was the significance of the gifts they gave Him? How does this influence your understanding of worship?


5. Compare the similarities and differences between Christ’s first coming (the Incarnation) and His Second Coming. (See also Matthew 24:36; John 14:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Revelation 1:7.)


6. Read Mark 13:32-33. What does this passage tell us about the date and time of Jesus return? How would your life be different if you did know the exact date and time?


7. Read Matthew 24:36-44. In this particular passage, how does Jesus prepare us to live?


8. How does this study better prepare you for the return of Christ for His church? How are you living in anticipation similarly to the Magi? How does this impact your daily walk with Jesus?
