Provide Biblical leadership for children and families from newborn to 6th grade with a primary focus on elementary ministry. Position reports to the Lead Pastor.
Personal - The Children’s Ministry Director must be a born-again Christian whose character is above reproach (1 Timothy 3:2) and has demonstrated an ability to work with many different types of people. He must love, nurture, and develop the “flock” by word and deed. It is expected that his relationship with his children and family, his associates, and his friends honors the Lord. His “leadership style” and demeanor should exemplify servanthood.

Requirements:
- At least three years of experience and leadership in a medium to large church’s children’s ministry are required with a focus on elementary ministry.
- Should have or be pursuing a college degree in a related field.
- Should demonstrate leadership and staff management skills.
- Experience in recruiting and leading volunteers.
- Requires the ability to lead and develop teams.
- Be committed to the vision, direction, and philosophy of the Children’s Ministry as set by leadership.
- Must be flexible as the ministry grows.
- Requires the ability to build relationships with children and parents.
- Requires the ability to problem solve, resolve conflict, and do initial counseling with ministry partners and families when appropriate.
- Requires the ability to accomplish assigned projects through other ministry staff; utilizing highly developed communication (written and verbal), project management, time management, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform high-quality, detailed work with minimum supervision within assigned deadlines.
- Demonstrates the ability to think strategically while staying focused on the accomplishment of current departmental priorities.
- Able to handle confidential matters and material with excellence.
- Willingness to work alongside of the youth minister offering clear ministry pathways between children and youth ministries.
Responsibilities
Community Outreach
- Lead 4REAL Children’s Ministry by providing gospel centered activities and programs that reach children and families in the church and also the community.
- Oversee special events planning to include but not limited to seasonal and family events.
- Build relationships with local public and private schools.
- Develop ministry pathways for families to integrate into the spiritual life of the church.
Discipleship
- Plan, develop, implement, and execute all aspects of children’s ministry in the areas of spiritual development, worship, discipleship (for children and volunteer Team Members), growth, mission, and vision.
- Ongoing contact with children, staff, parents, and leaders.
- Ongoing contact with volunteers and staff members.
- Encourage, affirm, and oversee parents serving within the ministry.
- Equip parents with tools for home to continue the spiritual growth of their child.
Leadership Development
- Develop integrated training processes for nursery, preschool, children, and special needs ministry leaders and Volunteers.
- Lead and build teams to execute all aspects of children’s ministry for weekend and weekly services.
- Mentor, manage and disciple children’s ministry volunteers.
- Create and execute yearly goals for children’s ministry volunteers.
Administrative Skills
- Maintain, manage and monitor all children’s ministry programing (i.e., Subsplash Check-in, Church Metrics)
- Ensure that all children’s ministry environments are set up and torn down for services.
- Ensure that all services and programs that are created and maintained by the Children’s Ministry are God-centered, inspiring, safe, and done with excellence.
- Lead and attend leadership meetings as needed.
- Provide oversight for nursery, preschool, and elementary.
- Provide oversight, support, and umbrella children’s ministry to sustain and improve the current and future state of programs.
- Recruit, equip, and communicate with ministry leaders and volunteers.
- Develop children’s ministry to impact families in the community while effectively building tools to help grow and disciple children.
- Plan and oversee children’s ministry budget.
- Help develop and maintain all security standards.
- Create resources for Children’s Ministry programming.
- Create and participate with small group curriculum.
- Create and prepare monthly communications for volunteers.
- Create and prepare monthly communications for parents.
- Regularly cast and communicate vision (written, social media, verbal, etc.).
- All other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
