Philippians 4:10-23


1. Define contentment in your own words. Read Philippians 4:10-13. What is the Biblical message here regarding contentment?

2. Read Philippians 4:14-18. The Philippian Church gave generously. Why do you think that was? American church goers today give less than what regular church attenders gave during the Great Depression (average annual giving 2.5%). Why do you think that is? (Read this informative article from Pushpay: pushpay.com/blog/church-giving-statistics/)

3. Why does Paul call their gift a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, and pleasing to God? Was it a gift to Paul or to God? Who truly was the recipient of the blessing (v.17)? How might these different perspectives affect your giving?

4. Compare the gift of Barnabas (Acts 4:36-37) with that of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11) and identify the following:
