1.    Read Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:21-23. What was God’s ultimate purpose for Immanuel? How is this biblical truth different than all other world religions?

3.    Read John 1:1-14. What does this passage teach about Jesus Christ and the significance of ‘God with us’?

4.    As Christ-followers living after the ascension and before the return of Jesus Christ, what promise of Immanuel is ours? (See Deuteronomy 31:8; Psalm 145:18-19; Matthew 28:20; Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:9.)

5.    What accounts in scripture are examples of God being present in someone’s difficult circumstance? In what ways have you found God’s presence during a difficult season? What hope do these things bring you when you face another difficulty? Why?
