Study Questions
1. Who are people in your life that have authority over you? In what way? Are those relationships healthy? Why/why not?
2. The Hebrew name Adonai in the Old Testament is the name of God that means, Lord or Master (one who has authority). The New Testament equivalent is Kyrios. It can refer to God, or to a lord or master in general. Look up the following passages to help you better understand God as our Lord and Master:
· Psalm 114:7; Romans 6:16-19; Matthew 6:24.
3. A healthy relationship between a master and a servant is depicted in Exodus 21:5-6. Describe why a slave would want to commit himself for life to his master.
4. According to the following passages, what does Lordship look like in the life of a Christ-follower? See Numbers 14:22–23; Luke 6:46, 14:27; James 1:22 and John 13:13-16.
5. What is the biblical lesson found in Romans 6:16-19?
6. Read Matthew 7:21-23. Why did Jesus say not everyone who calls Him Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven? What does this mean to you?
