Hebrews 10:26-39
Study Questions

1. For review, in light of Hebrews 10:14-25, what has the Lord promised under the New Covenant of Grace? How permanent are those promises?

2. Now read Hebrews 10:26-31. Contextually, what is “the knowledge of the truth” comprised of? (See verse 29.)

3. What is the difference between sinning and “sinning willfully” according to verse 26?

4. How should people feel about the coming judgment? (See verse 31.)

5. What is the difference between rebelling in Christ and rejection of Christ? (See Romans 7:5-25. Compare this contrast to the actions of Judas Iscariot and Peter.) Does God ever take sin lightly? Read Romans 6:1-3, 15-16.

6. Read Hebrews 10:32-39. What are the exhortations to genuine believers in Christ? What was their attitude in the midst of suffering? How does your suffering for Christ compare to theirs? What is the “better possession” that they had? What other qualities of this were mentioned?

7. Based on the context, what actions would show that they “throw away” their confidence? How is it that we live by faith? What do you think is the opposite of living by faith? According to verses 38-39, what does it mean to “shrink back”? Are you shrinking back or living by faith?

8. If you find yourself in a season of not pursuing Jesus with your whole heart, consider if you are in a place of rebellion or actual rejection. What will you do in light of this acknowledgement?
