Study Questions

Acts 6:8-7:60

1. What does it look like practically to live a life "full of faith and of the Holy Spirit" (6:5)? Does this describe your life? Why or why not?

2. Stephen was “full of wisdom” (6:3,10). How did he become so wise? What can you do in the months ahead to grow in wisdom like Stephen? (See also James 1:5-7.)

3. What is implied regarding Stephen’s relationship withthe Sanhedrin in his addressing them as “brothers and fathers”?

4. When have you had an opportunity to take a courageous stand for Jesus? How did it go?

5. Why do you think the Jewish leaders were ‘gnashing their teeth’ (7:54); what would make them so filled with rage? Who were they actually angry at? What were they angry about?

6. Have you forgiven, like Stephen, those who have harmed/ insulted/ hurt you? What makes forgiveness so hard? How can you pray for God’s help to truly forgive others?

7. How is Stephen’s grace and wisdom an example for you specifically? Pray for three people in your life who don’t yet know Jesus. Pray that God’s Spirit would give you courage to share the gospel with them and that He would draw them to faith in Jesus.
