Hebrews 6:13-20

1. How does Abraham’s example in Hebrews 6:13-15 help you better understand the application of verses 11-12?

2. How can a believer keep trusting in God when He delays answers to prayers for years? Describe a time when you had to wait on the Lord and trust Him. What did you learn from that experience?

3. What does it mean that God ‘swore by Himself’? Why does the Lord use that language to express His covenant promise to Abraham?

4. What are the two things listed in this passage that are impossible for God to do? What hope does that offer you? Why?

5. Read verse 18. What two characteristics identify a genuine believer in Jesus?

6. Read 2 Corinthians 13:5. How do we balance the tension between “examine yourself to see if you are in the faith” (2 Cor. 13:5) and “take hold of the hope set before us” (Hebrews 6:18)?

7. Read verse 19-20 of Hebrews 6. Why can we describe our hope as an anchor of the soul?
