Study Questions:

1. Read John 21:18-25. What does Jesus predict about Peter? What was the significance of Jesus’ prediction?

2. God knows the days of our lives before they even come into existence (Psalm 139:10; Matthew 10:29-31). Does this unnerve you or give you comfort? Why?

3. Look at vs. 19-23. What was Peter’s reaction as soon as Jesus tells him to ‘follow” Him? Why do you think Peter responded the way he did? Do you tend to find yourself responding the same way? Why/why not?

4. Describe the difference between equality and equity based on the following passages (Psalm 9:8, 17:2; Romans 2:11; 1 Samuel 16:7). How do these passages better help you understand the fairness of God? (Extra reading: Matthew 20:1-16, 25:14-30; Luke 17:7-10.)

5. Read Hebrews 12:2-3. What truth does this passage teach you about following Jesus? How does this truth parallel Jesus’ response to Peter? What are the things that distract you (good or bad) from focusing on Jesus daily?

6. What needs to change in your heart and/or habits this week in order to stay better
focused on Jesus and less distracted by the things in this life?
