Life Group Study Questions:
John 12:23-26

1. Read John 12:20-26. Why were some Greeks (non-Jews) at the Passover Feast? Are you surprised by the response Jesus gives knowing that these non-Jewish people came to see Him? Why/Why not?

2. In verse 23, John records Jesus’ announcement that the ‘hour had come’. What does that mean in light of the following verses: John 2:4; John 7:6,30?

3. What does Jesus say about “His hour” from this point forward in the Gospel of John? See John 12:27; 13:1; 16:32; 17:1.

4. According to verse 24, what was the point Jesus was making when He said, “Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed”?

5. Why must the seed ‘die’ in order to multiply? How do we see the work of Christ in this analogy?

6. Read verses 25-26 of John 12. What does it mean to lose your life? What does it mean to serve and follow Jesus? How does this display itself in the life of a Christian on a day-by-day basis?

7. What are the promises found in verses 24-26 for those who choose to lose their life in order to follow Jesus?

8. What must you do to ‘die’ to self in order to live for Christ? Be specific. What will be the outcome? (see verse 26).
