Study Questions
Philippians 4:1-7

1. Read Philippians 4:1. What does Paul mean by the Philippians being his ‘joy and crown’?

2. Continue and read vs.2-5. Why do you think Paul felt it necessary to specifically encourage Euodia and Syntyche to live in harmony? What are some things that we as Christians have strife over that aren’t necessarily sin related? How are we commanded to deal with these scenarios? (See also 1 Peter 1:22 and 3:8-9; John 13:35; Matthew 22:34-40; 1 John 4:19-2.)

3. Read vs.6-7. Why are we not supposed to worry? What is one thing that sometimes causes you worry? What might be the difference between concern and worry?

4. If God already knows everything that we are thinking and experiencing, why is it important to take everything to Him in prayer?

5. Share an example of something you’re thankful for. Identify a trial that you’ve gone through where you can now identify God’s sovereign hand in it.

6. Why does it say that this peace from God is beyond understanding? Have you ever experienced this kind of peace? When?

7. How do the following verses help you cope with things that make you anxious? Proverbs 12:25; Matthew 6:25-30; 1 Peter 5:7; Psalm 28:7.
