Ephesians 6:10-17

Study Questions

Read Ephesians 6:10-17. Do you believe the Christian life is a battle? Why/why not? Have you experienced that reality lately?

Do you take seriously the reality of Satan’s power in this world? How does that impact the way you approach difficult situations? What does it mean to ‘stand firm’?

What is the significance and lesson that our armor is for the defense? How does this instruct us on how to live with the spiritual battles as Christ-followers?

What responsibility do you have to put on the armor of God? What does this look like practically in your daily life? Have you ever been ‘caught off guard’ spiritually? What did you learn from that experience?

Describe the significance of each element of the armor of God as described in Ephesians 6:14-17:

Belt of Truth: John 18:33-38, John 8:44, Matthew 13:19, Isaiah 59:14-16

Breastplate of righteousness: Zechariah 3:1-7; Revelation 12:10

Shoes of peace: Isaiah 52:7; John 14:27

Shield of faith: Hebrews 11:1; 1 John 5:4

The helmet of salvation: 1 Corinthians 1:18; 1 Peter 1:8-9

Sword of the Spirit: Psalm 119:11; 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Where do we see in Scripture the sovereignty of God over the devil’s schemes? (For example: Job, Esther, Luke 22:31, Colossians 2:15, James 4:7, 1 John 3:8,  Revelation 12:9-11; add your own!)
