Ephesians 4:25-32
Study Questions
1. Describe what it means to ‘grieve’. What are the implications of grieving over something?
2. Is grieving different from being disappointed or angry? If so, how? Give examples.
3. Look up the following passages in Scripture and discuss the causes of grief within the Godhead:
· The Father | Genesis 6:6; Psalm 78:40
· The Son | Mark 3:5; John 11:35; Hebrews 5:7-9.
· The Holy Spirit | Ephesians 4:30; 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
4. According to Ephesians 4:25-30, identify at least four categories of sinful behavior that grieve the Spirit of God. Discuss the effects of these patterns in one’s life.
5. Contrast the devil’s work with the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives (See verses 27 and 30). What does this teach you about the Christian life?
6. Which one(s) of the four are you struggling with now? How has the Word of God convicted you of your choices/behavior as a Christ-follower? How is the Holy Spirit calling you to respond?
