John 13:1-17
Study Questions

1. What does John tell us about the love that Jesus had for his disciples?

2. What does it mean to ‘love someone to the end’ (v.1)?

3. What was the significance of Jesus washing the feet of His disciples? What was His attitude? His purpose?

4. What did Jesus mean in His response to Peter, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me” (v.8)?

5. Why are we to follow Jesus’ example? Who is the ultimate focus? (See also Philippians 2:3-4.)

6. Identify an act today that is equivalent to washing feet in the first century?

7. What is the difference between showing kindness and humbly serving others?

8. How can you express this servanthood to the people in your life (*i.e. spouse, siblings, parents, boss, co-workers, classmates, etc.)?

9. Take it one step further. Who was the disciple that betrayed Jesus? How would Jesus’ message have changed if He was selective in whose feet He washed? How does this apply to those in your life?

Pray that the Holy Spirit will show you a person this week that you can serve in the name of Jesus Christ.
