1. Statistics indicate that the number of people in the United States who struggle with feeling lonely is at an all-time high (and was even before the Coronavirus situation). To what do you attribute that?

2. Describe the difference between isolation and loneliness. How does this help you better deal with feeling isolated during ‘social distancing’ currently?

3. Read Isaiah 43:1-5. The Lord describes His love for His people very intimately (even in a time when they were living in rebellion). Identify and jot down each phrase of how God expresses His love for you in this passage.

4. Sometimes our feelings overwhelm our faith–especially when we are battling loneliness. How can you direct your faith to master your feelings? (See 2 Corinthians 5:7; Proverbs 3:5; 2 Timothy 4:16-17. For example, Paul expresses faith over the feeling of being deserted and alone.)

5. What does the phrase “Silence is not abandonment” mean? How can you hope in God’s presence and promises even when He seems silent? (See Psalm 13:1-3.)

6. Read the following passages that address God’s faithfulness and discuss the hope we find even when we might feel lonely. (See Psalm 130:5-6; Psalm 30; John 14:18; Psalm 23:4.) What other passages support this truth?
